Agnes Samil

Bio: My name is Agnes Samil Cronin, I am from an Island called Palau. My husband and I moved here on August 10, 2010 to station at  Nellis Air Force Base. Moving all over the world is one of the things that I'm used to and know that I need to get out and find things to do around these places. I love anything about outdoors and if I could live out there I would. I found out that Vegas offers so many hiking groups that made me seek and explore more.

Age: 48

Why did you join the 52 Peak Club: I joined 52 Peak Club because I thought it offers more hidden paths to some of the most beautiful Peaks surrounding  Las Vegas, and it would be a great challenge for me to pursue and see if I can do it. I gained a tremendous amount of confidence with my fear of heights and I can say that I am more healthier now than before I joined this group. I think it would  be so cool to own and collect all the 52 Peaks Cards including Joker as known for Vegas Style Hiking Players Cards.

Date Completed all 52 Peaks: July 21, 2014 ( My first Card was for Calico Tank Peak on May 7, 2013)

Toughest Peak: I would say, it would be those that I had to complete on my second try. Mount Charleston, Bridge Vista and Wilson.

Favorite Hike: I like the route to Lost Creek via Graffiti Canyon, but my favorite is White Pinnacle.

How did you feel once you became a 53er: A great deal of accomplishment and proud of myself to reach this goal and it's all because, the help of each organizer and hiker who shares the same passion and motivate each other to keep moving one step at a time.  I'm honored to say that I have hiked with so many young at heart hikers in this group. You all have been so wonderful.

Advice for new hikers: Always read the description of the hikes and know your limits. Start on easier hikes and make your way up. This club is a great way to get fit and it has some awesome organizers who are willing to help you if you need it. Don't be afraid to ask for advice or answers to any questions you may have.  Have fun exploring to some of the most beautiful hidden paths filled with awesome gems!
