Bio: I was born in Torrance, CA but grew up in a small town in Santa Barbara County where the outdoors was always a part of my routine from biking & hiking to horseback riding, fishing & camping.  However I did not become an avid hiker and scrambler until moving to the Las Vegas area in 2018, and finally joining the 52 Peak Club in 2021.   I currently live in Henderson, NV with my wife & 6 year old daughter and I continue to hike with the club.

Age: 34

Why did you joined:  I followed the club on social media for nearly a year before joining.   Originally I was not interested in doing much scrambling and was focused on trail hiking.  Eventually I joined Branch on my first scramble to Kraft Mountain and was instantly hooked.  In just a few months I was taking on advanced multi-peak hikes with class 4 scrambling.   Today I can say joining the club has been one of the best experiences of my life.

Date Completed all 52 Peaks: May 12, 2022

Toughest Peak: For myself I would say Holiday Peak was the toughest.  However each and every hike in the deck is challenging.  Every hiker is different and will struggle in different spots.  Fortunately in this club there is always someone there to help you through it.

Favorite Hike:   It is impossible for me to chose a favorite hike.  They are all challenging and enjoyable.  Every hike is a new & memorable experience even when you’ve been to the peak before.

How did you feel once you became a 53er:  I felt accomplished of course, but also relieved. This is a tough challenge to complete and very time consuming.   You will experience many emotions along your journey.  I cannot say thank you enough to the hiking leaders who helped me accomplish this goal.

Advice for new hikers: My advice is to go for it!  Don’t let someone tell you that you can’t do it or aren’t ready.   Only you can make that decision for yourself.  The body is capable if the mind is willing.
