Bio: I have been living in the Las Vegas area since I was 10 years old. I have had a weight problem my entire life. In 2011, a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to go hiking with him and I have never looked back. I enjoy rock scrambling, eating healthy, and most of all being a good father to my son.

 Age: 32

Why did you join the 52 Peak Club: I had been hiking and scrambling for a few years with the Las Vegas Mountaineers Club, but I always had a problem finding people to do hikes locally in the Las Vegas area. I joined this club so that I could do fun hikes, meet some more people with the same interests, and to become a better rock scrambler.

Date Completed all 52 Peaks: 11/29/2014

Toughest Peak: I am going to pick 2.  The chimney's on Holiday Peak was probably the most physically demanding section out of all the hikes. Rainbow Peak without the Ledges was probably the next toughest, or at least the day I went. It was super windy, which caused me to lose my balance at times on the most exposed sections, and I had to climb a super exposed section where there normally is a 100ft rope.

Favorite Hike: Lost Creek Peak with Graffiti Traverse. The route I went up had more class 4 scrambling than any other hike that I have been on. Other contenders: Pine Creek Peak was also extremely fun, but the long approach and descent kind of took some of that away. The chimneys on Holiday Peak is probably my favorite climbing section. Rainbow Peak without the ledges had a ton of cool climbs.

How did you feel once you became a 53er: I felt a great accomplishment. I am also glad that I don't have to worry about it anymore, and can now help other hikers achieve the same goal. I finished on one of the toughest hikes in the 52 Peak Club, which is something that I wanted to do.

Advice for new hikers: Scrambling is the best overall workout that I have ever gotten. I believe that anybody who puts their mind to it can also become a 53er. I recommend all new hikers to take advice from more experienced hikers, for they are only trying to help. I recommend hikers to read the descriptions for every hike that they sign up for. This club should never be about how fast you can earn all the cards. If you sign up for something over your head, it can detour you from future hikes and from the enjoyment that you should get out of hiking. I recommend new hikers to start with easy hikes first and work their way up. There is nothing wrong with repeating hikes until you feel confident on moving up. I also believe that you need to stay active and eat healthy outside of hiking. This will allow you to stay in shape and continue to grow as a hiker.
