Chris Foote
Bio: Lived in the midwest, primarily KS, most of my life. I've worked in radio since 1994. I'm behind the scenes so the joke I like to tell people is that "I'm a desk jockey, not a disc jockey." Motivated to get away from the cold, and snow I moved to Vegas in 2008. I have not been disappointed. I love it here. .
Why I joined the 52 Peak Club: I hiked on my own for years, but wanted to explore more fun and challenging routes with people that knew the way.
Age: 47
Date Completed: 4/27/2019
Toughest Peak: They all have different challenges, but the slab on Bridge Vista/Point is just brutal though.
Favorite Hike: I don't have one favorite per se, but here are some on my top contenders list; Mummy head to toe, Holiday, Lost Creek via Graffiti Traverse, Charleston Peak via Big Falls, Mescalito up the descent route, Macks North, Magic/Crabby.
How Did I Feel When Done: Accomplished! When I started my journey, I'd say I had a higher than average fear of heights, and exposure. The more I've hike with the club, the more confidence and skills I've acquired. I still have a healthy respect for the danger, but I'm confident in my abilities.
Advice for New Hikers: Do not go off on your own! You're hiking with a group. Start with the easier hikes until you truly know your abilities and build up your endurance level. I thought I was in pretty good shape when I started, however, hiking shape vs. running/weight training shape are very different things. Have fun! Our hikes can be very challenging, but if you don't like to have fun this might not be the group for you.
