Diane Wilson
Bio: Extreme yogi, master yoga teacher since 1971, who rockclimbs, dances, artist, hiker.
Age: 63
Why did you join the 52 Peak Club: My husband Lyn & I woke up to pouring Portland Oregon rain one more day & decided to move right then to Las Vegas! So we bought a vacation townhome, hiked Red Rock tourist-map hikes, got bored in a week, found Branch's book & hiked Mescalito, got lost at saddle, found Branch online, signed up for 52ers, got on Mescalito for 1st card...& now we live here in Summerlin!
Date Completed all 52 Peaks: July5th, 2014 (71st person to become a 53er - took me 2 years cause I had to get 2 new titanium hips along the way & rehab myself enough to get back to the 52ers)
Toughest Peak: The first hike which was Mescalito. My husband & I flew in from Oregon for this climb. We'd always hiked alone or just with each other (cause our climb-friends thought we chose too dangerous adventures) so joining a big group was SCARY!!!! That first day we met Eric & lots of friendlies, the hike was so fun & challenging. Branch & another great crew arrived at the summit, I did yogi headstands with Johnny on rocks...it doesn't get any better...we finally found others like us!.
Favorite Hike: My last 52er hike, Mummy's Forehead, so beautiful, shared with so many wonderful 52ers & 53ers, & we just got missed by the monsoon!
How did you feel once you became a 53er: Happy!
Advice for new hikers: Keep moving.
