Dinorah Arambula
Bio: I moved to Las Vegas in 1996, from LA, but I am originally from Mexico. I have two lovely daughters and an awesome grandson (future 52er) . I enjoy watching sports and good movies. I had a kidney transplant in Feb. 2011 that not only saved my life, but changed the way to live it, and enjoy it !!
Age: 50
Why did you join the 52 Peak Club: When I moved to Las Vegas, one of the first places I visited was Red Rock, I was amazed. I said to myself: Someday I would like to get up there and enjoy the view. Well, that never happened when I was healthy and in good shape, and didn’t know where or how to start. Suddenly, everything changed, I got sick, I lost my kidneys and I found myself fighting for my life, I was living with physical and emotional limitations, I couldn’t do sports, or even climb the stairs of my apartment. But then in February of 2011, I was blessed and I got a second opportunity in my life, so few months after that big moment in my life, I drove to Red Rock, and again I said to myself: this time I will do it in a way to appreciate life, fulfill a goal and show gratitude to my donor, but still, I didn’t know where and how to start. I was hiking on my own, just some trials, until one day someone told me about the 52 Peak Club, this person told me, “look, if you really want to go and step on top of each peak, join the 52 Peak club..” well, I started looking for it, until I found it… and joined!! The first peak I did was Kraft on March 2012, and I thought I wasn’t ready, but few weeks later I tried again and did 2 Sisters, after that, all is history… I just completed all 52 peaks!!! .
Date Completed all 52 Peaks: June 8th, 2013 (33rd person to become a 53er)
Toughest Peak: Many !! But Bridge Vista and Bridge Point were really hard, I struggled to get to the peak !!
Favorite Hike: Many too !! But if I have to pick 3, then I will say; Ice Box, Holiday and the Sisters …also Oak Creek
How did you feel once you became a 53er: I feel proud of myself, thankful to my donor for giving me a second shot to enjoy life and happy because I met so many great hikers and awesome friends that in each hike they were with me, I always got their support. I also feel so grateful to all leaders for being patient and giving me the opportunity to make it to the peak, in exchange, you earned my respect.
Advice for new hikers: I could say many good things like, always hike with the group, follow your leader, focus, enjoy it, take many pictures, but in my personal point of view, and what always did; these three simple rules in my mind;
PASSION: Love what you do
DETERMINATION: Set your goals and accomplish them
MOTIVATION: Find your inspiration, feel the emotion !!
