Bio:  I was not an outdoor person before age 39. I don't like any sport. They are dangerous. I'm afraid of getting hurt. I'm worry about falls, knocking out by balls, breaking my limbs...Anything could happen when you play outside, and probably you will be dirty and sweaty all over, yuck.

In 2016, a friend of mine persuaded me to run with her at night to keep her company. I absolutely hated running. The last time I ran 1000 meters was during junior high in China. I fainted after the race and was sent to the school medical center. So I can't run. But I joined her on the run and later I joined a local running club, Las Vegas Runners, where she is also a member. We signed up our first 10k in spring, 2017. That event changed my circle of influencer. Between 2017 and 2019, I ran many half marathons with Vacation Races and 3 full marathons. I fell in love with national parks and the people I met. I wanted to get better, run faster, and be happier just like these people around me in the running community. Then I met Beth Christensen, an ultra runner and a 53er. I thought she was crazy! Who would run for 100 miles! I admired her, but whatever she did was out of my league. But because of Beth, I was introduced to the running and hiking communities. My friend, Anthony Park, a member of 52 Peak Club invited me to join Hiking Las Vegas Facebook. I watched and observed the group activities for two years. In January 2020, I wanted to add hiking  as cross training for my running activities, I thought I'm ready to try this cool hiking club out. It certainly didn't disappoint. While most people live in fear in 2020, I had the best time of my life.

Age: 42

Why did you join the 52 Peak Club: Branch used his magic on Kraft Mountain to make me sign up 52 peak club. But the group of people on White Rock Hills Peak hike made me want to be a part of this awesome club.

Date Completed all 52 Peaks: Dec. 8, 2020

Toughest Peak: Mummy Head to Toe led by Bruce and Chris. I thought I gonna die that day.

Favorite Hike: Rainbow Peak and Rainbow Wall Traverse  and Mt. Wilson through Cleaver Crack.

How did you feel once you became a 53er: Relieved that I didn't die. Grateful for all the people that helped me on this quest.

Advice for new hikers: Observe, learn, and improve. Stay close to the leaders or advanced hikers, so you can watch their move. When you start hiking with the group, DON'T WORRY ABOUT TAKING PICTURES! There will be a ton of them shared on FB, which I promise are better than the ones you took. Lol. Focus on where you put your feet, hands and watch loose rocks. Be humble, always ask questions and advice from the leaders and experienced hikers. Most importantly, be a responsible hiker, for your own safety and for the group's safety. Offer help and assistance when you are comfortable and confident.
