Nick Langenfeld
Bio: I was born in St. Paul, MN, but have lived in Las Vegas most of my life. I only occasionally hiked on the most common trails. I had no idea that there were so many other trails and so much more available when the traditional trail ended, especially in Red Rock.
Age: 37
Why did you join the 52 Peak Club: I joined to hike with other like-minded, good people. After joining, I was exposed to scrambling (hands on hiking), new, awe-inspiring areas surrounding Las Vegas I never knew existed and great leaders and members.
Date Completed all 52 Peaks: July 4, 2015
Toughest Peak: Rainbow Peak
Favorite Hike: White Pinnacle Peak
How did you feel once you became a 53er: I finished with two other members where we had hiked numerous peaks and shared many more memorable experiences so it was deeply fulfilling. Not just in a check an item/goal off of a list type of way, but rather in a deep-rooted, quality, this is what life is supposed to be about type of way.
Advice for new hikers: Try it. Try different leaders, styles and members. Then, gravitate to who and what works best for you. The club makes it easy because everyone is in such a good place when hiking. Last, remember to take it all in throughout the hike, not just at the beginning and end. Go for it!
