Vincent Ong Dapper
Bio: Lived in Arkansas most of my life prior to moving to Las Vegas in the Fall of 2009. I love the outdoors especially out here in the desert southwest. I stay active by playing tennis, working-out, and of course, hiking. I also have a passion for travelling to places far and away. In addition to finishing the 52 peaks, I also am working on my list of seeing the 'New 7 Wonders of the World'. These past two years I have visited the Colosseum of Rome; Chichen Itza, Mexico; Petra, Jordan; and Machu Picchu in Peru. I am going to see the Great Wall of China over Thanksgiving 2014. I am all about bucket lists, and I intend to see as many places around the world if and when I can before I am no longer able.
Age: 21
Why did you join the 52 Peak Club: The Challenge. Fitness. Love of the Outdoors. .
Date Completed all 52 Peaks: Oct 12th, 2014 (82nd person to become a 53er)
Toughest Peak: Mummy’s Chin. I suppose because my mind was unwilling to go up the same leading trail (which is the same for the forehead and nose) AGAIN and it is already SET on getting to the finish line at the same time.
Favorite Hike: White Pinnacle. Bridge Mountain (from the back). Crabby Appleton--simply because it was my 52nd.
How did you feel once you became a 53er: Accomplished… especially being able to finish within the timeframe I have set for myself.
Advice for new hikers: First, know your objective, your reason for being out here in the great outdoors and joining the 52 Peak Club. If it’s social... then take your time, enjoy the journey, and make long lasting friends. If it’s the challenge... then find and hike with the hardcores, and then set a technical standard and a timeframe for yourself. Second, it is important that you READ the DESCRIPTION of each posted hike. Know both your capabilities and limits physically and mentally. Last, but not least, HAVE FUN!!!
