Bio:  I grew up (or did I?) in L.A., where I trained and competed as a gymnast my entire young life. In 1988, I went to Aspen, CO for a summer holiday with infant daughter. I caught the fever for outdoor adventure and never returned to live in L.A.  Around 2007, my hubby decided that he was done with snowy winters and thought that living in Las Vegas half the year could be a hell of a good life. I went along in theory but made constant travel plans to get me to someplace else. I hated Vegas- no friends, too much hassle and bustle, not enough green, no one remotely like me. Then- hallelujah! I found Hiking Las Vegas and the 52 Peak Club. It changed my life- it changed my family life. I discovered that there was so much to experience in and around Vegas, with a great group of companions . I retired from my  winter job as a private ski instructor in CO (a  job with a very high fun factor) so that I can spend all the time I want, from October to May, exploring all that the Vegas area has to offer.   So much to do- so little time.

Age:  57

Why did you join the 52 Peak Club:  I was hooked on the 52 Peak club right away. I instantly felt that I had finally found my people. It doesn't matter that everyone has their own ideology and background. We share the joy of the adventure and the bonds created through the challenges  along the way. The hikes are always rewarding. There is the camaraderie, the beauty, the mental and physical challenges. What else could one ask for?

Date Completed all 52 Peaks:  12/3/2016

Toughest Peak: I can't remember my toughest hike- maybe the first few. I remember thinking, "Who's idea was this!?"  I had participated in many sports, but never heard of scrambling on rocks and, certainly, had never participated.  Scrambling is addictive.

Favorite Hike: My favorite hikes are all but a few- too numerous to name. Any hike is awesome with a great group of companions and, at least, half way decent weather. Honestly, almost every hike has been amazing!

How did you feel once you became a 53er: I feel a great sense of pride and accomplishment having hiked all 52 peaks (and then some). I am actually in a bit of a shock that I actually got the last hikes done before the weather closed down the Mt Charleston area. Not so easy since I live in CO from May to October. That brings me to the most important feeling of all- tremendous gratitude, especially for everyone who helped me to get those last (12!) mountain peaks in a very short time.

Advice for new hikers:  My advice to new hikers- start easy, get fit, show up with a humble and happy attitude. Everyone will bend over backwards to welcome you and help you with the journey.
