Branch Whitney led 11 hard core hikers today to Eva's Tower. This is one of the most improbable routes in all of Red Rock. The summit looks technical from all angles. Eva's Towers offers a little bit of everything, rock scrambling, a cave like slot, a little bit of stemming with many twists and turns to challenge you. Great vistas from the summit add to the enjoyment of this fantastic route. This peak is named after my first hiking partner, Eva. The weather was beautiful today and perfect for rock scrambling in Red Rock Canyon. To make this a round trip route we descended Gully 3 which included a rappel so that we did not retrace our steps through Gully 2. This route takes you to places of beauty and wonder. The hike started at approximately 7:30 am and we were back to our cars before 12:30 pm. Branch Whitney led a small group of members of the 52 Peak Club on a two card hike to Ice Box Peak and Bridge Mountain descending the North Peak decent route to Rocky Gap Road. Beautiful weather and strong hikers made this nine hour challenging hike a memorable experience. The route is in good shape. Don and Dinorah (LaExploradora) Arambula led two separate hikes to Windy Peak, The Backway, on 4-3-2015, to accommodate 30 members of Meetup Hiking Las Vegas to Windy Peak. Assistant Organizer Jimmy Logan led 19 hikers to Fortification Hill via trail. Jimmy reported that the moon rise and sunset happened at the same time. The weather was comfortable with a cool breeze. A good time was had by all.
