Oak peak (8D), red rock canyon

Four hikes were posted on Meetup Hiking Las Vegas on 3-8-2014.  Assistant Organizer Jimmy Logan led nine hard core hikers to Oak Peak.  Oak Peak is a seven mile round trip Class 3 hike with an elevation gain of 2,233 feet. The route travels through the south fork of Oak Creek climbing nine dry\wet falls, however, this time of year because of all the recent rain (and some snow was found on north facing spots on this hike), there were a lot of workarounds due to the amount of water in the canyon.  Fun was had by all!   Just ask Chris Wehner who went for a very cold dip!  It heads NW up a steep section of sandstone, and then heads north to the peak. Descent is through the north fork of Oak Creek Canyon.
