On 3-4-2015, Assistant Organizer Jacob Grant led six hard core hikers to Kraft Mountain that included four rappels. A great experience for new and experienced hikers.

Assistant Organizer Jason Lillebo led five hikers to two peaks today in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Hamblin Mountain, Vistas of Pinto Valley, Lake Mead, Bowl of Fire, and Las Vegas make this one of the more scenic hikes in Lake Mead and Northshore Peak, also described as one of the best peaks around Lake Mead. There are great views from along the ridgeline of this summit. Two great Class 3 hikes and ten miles between the two when the weather turns cold or rain is forecasted for the Red Rock Canyon area. You never want to make this drive for one hike. Jason reported that it started to sprinkle just as they reached their vehicle.
NOTE: For any Lake Mead hike ALWAYS test your handholds before committing to a climb! Assistant Organizer Jimmy Logan led 13 hard core hikers to Mt. Wilson via Cleaver Crack - Ace of Club. Cleaver Crack is the favorite route amongst 52ers to Mt. Wilson. It was a beautiful day to do Wilson. Jimmy reported that there was a little ice at the top, but nothing that they could not avoid. Anchors and webbing all in great shape.
On January 17, 2015, Assistant Organizer Dinorah (LaExploradora) Arambula led 13 hikers to Holiday Peak, one of five hikes offered by Meetup Hiking Las Vegas today. This is one of the best routes in Red Rock Canyon. The hike follows Bridge Point Slot Traverse and then travels to the ridge. Once on the ridge it’s a wild twist and turn route among the red towers to the peak. It’s awesome. Bring at least 40-feet of webbing or rope to pass up packs. This speeds up the hike and for safety reasons, not because hikers hurt rock! Congratulations to Alynn Lupold who became the 52 Peak Club's 85th 53er New Years Day on Kraft Mountain with 36 people attending and celebrating the end of her 50 week journey. Alynn was new to Las Vegas when she joined the 52 Peak Club one year ago. During the presentation at Kraft Mountain summit she stated that the 52 Peak Club was a big part of why 2014 was the best year of her life. She thanked organizers and her many friends who helped her along her journey. Everyone came dressed appropriately and looking their best for this momentous occasion, many stories were shared and a little non-alcoholic bubbly was consumed at the top. Video of her presentation. Sunday, 12-28-2014, Meetup Hiking Las Vegas / 52 Peak Club offered three hikes to Magic Mountain, led at different starting times, Frank Ornelas led seven hikers at 7:30am to Magic and Crabby Appleton, Dinorah (LaExploradora) Arambula led nine hikers at 8:00am to Magic Mountain, and Jena Roxbury led 11 hikers at 9:00am to Magic Mountain. Magic Mountain is a great winter hike: It’s short, east facing, and relatively low elevation. The route twists and turns appearing to dead end before reaching the summit of Magic Mountain. From there you have the option of bagging Crabby Appleton, which is about 20 minutes away. The descent is down the climber’s gully, which is much faster than retracing your steps. ![]() Experienced Assistant Organizer Jimmy Logan led a group to Lost Creek Peak via Graffiti Traverse today assisted by Mike Robison, long time experienced Rock Climber, and hike leader. This route is one of the best hikes in Red Rock Canyon with tons of Class 4 climbing, virtually no brush and great vistas make for an awesome route. This route is well cairned. It was Cold and windy and cold and did I say windy? All members of this group are experienced hikers with Meetup Hiking Las Vegas / 52 Peak Club and came dressed appropriately. They were prepared for a long and fun rock scrambling adventure. Thanks to Jimmy, no one was disappointed! ![]() Assistant Organizer Kelly Ashe led a nine hikers the Mountaineer's Route (Scrambling Route) to Frenchman Peak. The trailhead for Frenchman Peak is located and the very east end of Bonanza Road (where Bonanza Road dead ends). Frenchman Peak literally hovers over Las Vegas. Many locals mistakenly call this Sunrise Mountain. The 3,364-foot Sunrise Mountain lies to the north on the other side of Lake Mead Blvd. These hardcore hikers were really moving when ascending / descending the peak. It was cold and windy Christmas morning. If you live on the east side of town Frenchman is a great short workout with a lot of scrambling. What a great way to start the morning before the Christmas festivities begin.
