Assistant Organizer Martin "Marty" Leghart, Jr. led five 52ers to Windy Peak, The Back Way, on Saturday, December 20, 2014. This route is mostly trail with a little bit of scrambling just before the peak. The views at the peak are spectacular. The expanse at the summit is impressive. It's somewhat like the summat Mummy Mountain, a very flat and large area. This is a great first hike for new members of the 52 Peak Club. The elevation of Windy Peak is 6,200 feet. Don't let this mostly trail hike fool you, due to the elevation and elevation gain of 1,600 feet of this hike you must be in good physical condition to do this hike. The trailhead is located off of Highway 160 between Las Vegas and Pahrump. You turn right onto a dirt road just past Las Vegas Archers Spring Mountain Range on the left. kk
Assistant Organizer Jimmy Logan led a group of five 52ers to Bridge Point on Sunday, December 21, 2014. Many hikers rate this as one of the top hikes in Red Rock. The elevation of Bridge Point is 6,670 feet and you gain 3,200 fee of elevation. This adventure takes you through Fern Canyon, offers a lot of fun scrambling with a great walk along a ridge on good rock to the peak. Jimmy reported that Fern Canyon is gorgeous right now.kk
At Bridge Point Peak
Assistant Organizer Jimmy Logan led a group of hikers to Terrance Canyon Peak on Saturday, December 20, 2014. This is a fun hike with enough scrambling to keep it interesting, but it does not have the crazy, intense climbing other routes have. Terrace Canyon has the prettiest canyon in Red Rock. Don't forget your camera you will want to take a piece of Terrace Canyon back with you as this route is very scenic. Jimmy reported that the route is well cairned and that there was a lot of water in Pine Creek. It was a beautiful and clear day.kk
I care about the members of Meetup Hiking Las Vegas and the 52 Peak Club. Safety is my number one priority when it comes to hiking and rock scrambling. What we do out there is dangerous and we never want to forget that. Information is power and I want you to have the power to hike and rock scramble safely. Through this blog I will bring you helpful hiking tips, how to hike safely, up-to-date hiking and route information, educational hiking and hiking related videos, photos of and information on our leadership team, photos from group hikes, route photos and testimonials of members who are members of the 52 Peak Club and what the 52 Peak Club means to them.
