Frequently Asked Questions About the 52 Peak Club
What is the 52 Peak Club?
The 52 Peak Club is a Las Vegas area based hiking club that hikes to the area’s best 52 Peaks. When the hikers summit, they are awarded the poker card associated with that peak. When you have completed all 52 Peaks, you are awarded a plaque and joker card.
When do I get a card and how much are they?
Cards are distributed on the Peak. The 52 Peak Challenge Cards are $5 each and paid in cash or Zelle (52PeakClub@gmail.com) at the peak.
I’ve already hiked to that peak before, can I just get the card?
No, your hike must be registered in our club's meetup site and the hike must be led by one of our hike volunteers.
Can I get a card for a multi-peak hike?
Sort of. The only recognized multi-peak hikes that you can earn multiple cards are:
I am complete with my Red Rock cards and waiting for the snow to melt on Mt Charleston, can I just start a new deck now?
No. You must be completely finished with your current deck to start a new one. If you hike to the same peak multiple times during your deck, you will still receive mileage/elevation credit on the card tracker. Look for recognition and/or prizes for the top 10 hikers.
What is this Plaque I keep hearing about?
If you are collecting cards, when you have collected all 52 cards you will be awarded a plaque. Because hikers love hiking to these peaks, it isn't uncommon for someone to hike multiple times to the same peak. Only one card must be earned to qualify for the plaque. A cool thing is that your plaque will contain the mileage, elevation, and your 53er number for all recorded hikes while that "deck" was open. Your name will then be added to our hall of fame. 😊 Less than 1% of club members have completed all 52 Peaks. Celebration hikes are your offical 53er hike. They are scheduled about every 4 months and we encourage your family and friends to attend. Waiver releases and club membership is not requried for celebration hikes.
How long do I have to complete the 52 Peak Challenge?
As long as it takes. Some people complete it in under a year and others take several years. You are challenging yourself and everyone is different with different life events that enable or distract your hiking opportunities.
How much does it cost to join the 52 Peak Club?
I am not collecting cards but want to hike. Is that okay?
Absolutely! All 52 Peak Club hikes are input into our hike tracker and you will be given a "digital" card for each hike. However, only those participating in the 52 Peak challenge (collecting cards) are celebrated, recognized in the Hall of Fame and awarded a plaque.
I can hike for free with other clubs, why should I pay to join the 52 Peak Club?
You get what you pay for! People join the 52 Peak Club for the 52 Peak Challenge and stay with us because of our safety, community, and sense of family. We have all experienced something that is free and later realized that it was extremely costly. Free does not mean good when your life and livelihood is on the line! Yes, some "free" clubs have some great hikers however, they also have hikers with everything from behavior problems, showing up intoxicated and harassing other hikers. Those clubs do not offer the safety of pre-screening, the engagement of hike leaders to respond and resolve problems and they don't have the liability protection that our club has. The 52 Peak Club offers a safe, fun and friendly community of like-minded hikers.

How much does it cost to join the 52 Peak Club?
- $52 to join the club - This is a one time fee and enables you access to the best hikes in the Las Vegas area and to hike with some of the most awesome people in the local hiking community.
- $25 annual fee for liability insurance policy. The fee covers you on the club general liability insurance policy for 12 months (see FAQs for Liability Insurance Waiver Release for specific questions). When that 12 months expires, you renew by updating and re-signing the liability insurance waiver/release and paying $25 prior to your next hike after the expiration date. For example, if your renewal date is July 1st 2023, but you do not plan on hiking with the club until September, you can renew in September and that will establish a new annual 12 consecutive month period for you.
