Brandon Rock
Bio: I moved to Vegas in 2008 to ski instruct at Ski Las Vegas. During the off-season I started climbing peaks in Red Rock Canyon.
Besides ski instructing I am a certified personal trainer. I enjoy spending most my time in the mountains.
Age: 37
Why did you join the 52 Peak Club: I began to consider hiking with a group because of the danger involved in bagging peaks. That is when I found the 52 peak club. This club fed my adrenaline addiction and did so in a safe way. I also felt it a great way to make friends who shared a similar passion.
Date Completed all 52 Peaks: Oct 27, 2012 (19th person to become a 53er)
Toughest Peak: Holiday Peak
Favorite Hike: Ice Box Peak and White Pinnacle Peak/Dead Horse Point combo.
How did you feel once you became a 53er: It felt good to accomplish the feat. I am a competitive person and I enjoyed competing against myself and the mountain. It is great to conquer fears and the obstacles the mountain holds.
Advice for new hikers: New hikers should realize 52ers aren't hikers..they are peakbaggers. It is a combination of hiking, climbing, scrambling, and the mountain is a dangerous place. Trust your fellow hikers and respect the terrain. It is never good to get too confident. Test your holds while climbing. Bring plenty of water to hydrate. Use common sense. That's all.
