Brian Tallarico

Bio: I’m originally from the OH/PA area, where I spent a lot of time in the great outdoors as a kid, always looking for adventure.  I moved to Vegas in 1998 and unfortunately spent so much time working, drinking, smoking, and getting fat that I never found time for the outdoors.  I had always wanted to check out Red Rock but could never find anyone to join me and felt that it was unsafe to go alone.  Finally, in 2009 I decided I was going to start hiking in Red Rock even if I had to do it alone.  I quickly fell in love with the place and soon after found a meetup group to hike with.  I am now a certified hiking addict and in the greatest shape of my life!

Age: 40

Why did you join the 52 Peak Club: It seemed like a great goal oriented activity doing something I really loved.

Date Completed all 52 Peaks: Oct 17, 2012 (13th person to become a 53er)

Toughest Peak: Bridge Mountain via Pine Creek/Fern Canyon

Favorite Hike: Mt Wilson via cleaver Crack...or maybe White Pinnacle or Holiday Pk or Rainbow Mt.... or maybe Pine Creek Pk.....I like Crabby Appleton a lot too....or maybe Windy Pk via East Face Rte... Indecision was fun too...

How did you feel once you became a 53er:

Advice for new hikers: Don’t rush it!  These mountains aren’t going anywhere, know your limits and always be aware of them, and don’t take any unnecessary risks in a rush to get the cards.  Getting to the peak is optional, getting back down is not.  Do the easier ones first and work your way up to the harder ones.  Always remember safety first, fun second, objective third.
