Goodman Peak - Reroute 5-2017
As you leave the main gully and veer left into the loose chute (the one with the log overhead), you will notice there's more loose rock. The below photo was taken in this area.
When this gully divides, instead of going right (original route) continue straight looking for cairns. This gully is much more stable. Follow cairns until the terrain levels. It's mainly class 1. Walk about 25 yards to the chute in the photo below.
Notice the two dead trees (top of photo) and cut marks in the lower tree to the right of the chute.
Ignore the cairns out to the East; they lead you to Willow Springs Overlook.

Climb the chute, turn right, do a class 3 climb on an exposed rib and follow cairns about 40 yards until you meet up with the Goodman route.
Although this route is a bit longer, it is much safer than the original route.
